# 📈 How does the "Time entry balance calculation" field work in haddock HR?

In each employee’s profile in haddock HR you will find the **"Time entry balance calculation"** field, which defines **how recorded hours are compared** to calculate their personal balance.

This field has **two options**:

- **Scheduled hours**: the time entry balance is calculated **by comparing recorded hours with the hours of the planned shifts** in the schedule.
- **Target hours**: the balance is calculated **by comparing recorded hours with the working day hours** specified in the employee’s contract.

👉 **Important:** This setting **only affects how the employee will see time entry balances** when logging in to haddock HR. It **does not change** the company’s general calculation method for reports or other internal purposes.
