# What is a Group and what is it for?

A group contains a **set of employees** who provide a specific service. For example, in a group you could have **all the employees who provide service** in a restaurant: waiters, cooks, and staff at the bar making coffees and charging customers.

Simply put, a group **is used to plan both work and absence shifts** (vacations, illness, leave, etc.).

It also allows you to **see the accumulated hours worked** over a given period.
