How to assign public holidays to employees using calendars

In haddock HR, public holidays are not assigned directly to each employee. Instead, they are managed through calendars, which are then assigned to groups. Employees automatically inherit the public holidays from the calendar associated with their group.

Step 1: Create or configure a calendar

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Open the Calendars section.
  3. Select an existing calendar or create a new one.

By default, you will find a calendar named Default calendar, which you can use or edit as needed.

Within each calendar, you can add all the relevant public holidays and specify the dates that should be treated as holidays for that group of employees.

Step 2: Assign the calendar to a group

Once the calendar is configured:

  1. Go to Settings > Groups.
  2. Select the group to which you want to assign the public holidays.
  3. Select the relevant calendar.
  4. Save the changes.

How are public holidays applied to employees?

Employees who belong to a group automatically inherit the calendar assigned to that group.

This means:

  • You do not need to assign public holidays employee by employee.
  • All group members share the same public holidays.
  • Any changes made to the calendar are automatically applied to all employees linked to groups that use that calendar.

Example

If you have a group named Barcelona Office and assign it a calendar containing Catalonia's public holidays, all employees in that group will have those holidays available in their planning.
